This is Masunaga's Mission Statement: “We manufacture excellent eyeglasses. We want to make a profit if we can, but we don’t hesitate to take a loss. It is always in our thoughts to manufacture excellent eyeglasses.” This has been the philosophy of Masunaga since they were founded in 1905.
Even though Masunaga is a Japanese company, they design and build classic Americana shapes. Some are long standing designs and some are modern, yet still classic interpretations. They use only the best Japanese acetate. All metal parts, including hinges are titanium. The rivets are silver and functional. Each frame can take up to 200 steps, many by hand, to complete. They take no shortcuts. They make no compromises. Their attention to detail is immediately apparent from the moment you pick it up and reinforced when you wear it.
