Medical eyecare

Nearly all other visits to the eye doctor that aren't routine are considered medical. The way we determine this is based on the reason you are coming in. Blurry vision, eye pain, red eye, discharge, and visual distortion are but a few of many symptoms that are not routine. Most patients are unaware of this and often avoid seeing the optometrist if they don't have a vision coverage plan. When we treat you for a medical condition though, we bill the same insurance you would use if you broke your arm.

There is a long list of medical conditions we diagnose and often treat. It includes, but certainly isn't limited to, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, conjunctivitis, foreign body in the eye, flashes and/or floaters, even headache. Suffice it to say, if your visit is for any other reason than "I just need to update my eye glasses," it is usually considered medical.
